Our last day...can you believe it? What an absolutely amazing trip!!
Since we were out pretty late having our "seriously good last meal" the night before, we made plans with Charlotte to stop over in the morning (errr, again I mean noon - ha) to say goodbye. She was going to be meeting some friends for lunch a little later, so it worked out perfectly.
This is the garbage "can" outside of our apartment. The trash is picked up everyday (I think or pretty close to everyday) around midnight.
In front of our apartment - 4456 Nicaragua
Tre and Charlotte (she wanted to take the jeep home with her)
After we said our thank yous and goodbyes to Charlotte, we set off walking toward the Evita museum. We rented and watched the movie just before we left for Buenos Aires, so I was pretty excited to go to it. Note: If you haven't seen the movie and don't mind a good musical, it is wonderful. The museum was neat. I was not disappointed. She was loved (and hated) by millions and they proudly displayed all of the good things she did for the Argentine people. Again, we couldn't take pictures, but they had some of her clothes and accessories on display, too. I always enjoy seeing stuff like that...she was a tiny, tiny woman.
A mural that caught my eye while we were walking around. The animals have taken over on this ark. Poor Noah is blindfolded...
My mom and dad where down in San Diego for an early Christmas before we left and my mom gave me this trifold(?) wallet. It was so perfect. Just the right size to carry the important stuff (money, credit card, copy of my passport, a hair band, emergency numbers) and fit into my little purse. Way to go mom!
We thought we were going to have to pay and exit fee when we departed from Buenos Aires, but we didn't, so I still have that wad of Argentine pesos. Guess we'll have to go back - ha!
Before our next stop, we had to go back to La Reja Empanadas. Sort of amusing...this was the first place we ate in Buenos Aires and it was also the last - ha. It was SO good that we knew we had to go back at some point. It's kind of funny now that I think about it, but that first day we went in there we were TOTAL tourists...didn't really know how or what to order and when we went in there again, we were pros. Ok, maybe not, but it went much more smoothly. :o)
We're thinking we should open up a shop in San Diego...yummy!
The spread... Coca light (of course), 3 beef empanadas, 3 onion and cheese empanadas and 2 roquefort fried empanadas.
This is a kind of guide for your empanadas. Kind of like the lid on a box of fancy chocolates. Each flavor is folded a little different so you know which one you are eating. I'm sure it's kind of hard to see the detail in the picture, but you get the idea. Very cute.
After lunch we had a little souvenir shopping to do and then we crossed the last thing off our list. Well...not really the last thing, but the last thing for THIS trip. As with almost anywhere you travel, there is so much more to see and do that you possibly can. In 15 days, we saw and did a lot!
Anyway, the last place was the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires. It was a gorgeous museum and unbeknownst to us, they had a huge exhibit of Andy Warhol - Mr. America, which Tre was quite excited about.
What an AMAZINGLY perfect honeymoon....seriously, you guys did it RIGHT! I am so glad everything went so well...and for the record again, I have LOVED the blog posts. Nicely done, Mrs. Harris :)
