Easter weekend

Friday night I had dinner with my old roommate, Roseann, to celebrate her birthday. Her favorite place to go “out” is Donovan’s in UTC and I had never been there, so it was a treat for both of us. She had her “usual”…filet mignon and I had their special, a double cut prime rib with creamed spinach. It was SO good and SO big…Tre got some yummy leftovers – he was very excited.

Saturday we ran 10 miles (2 loops around Miramar Lake), had a quick breakfast at Denny’s down the street, drove by several houses to see if we wanted to see the inside with Jayne McArthur and then met up with her to see the inside of a few. Yes, we are looking at houses. We just started this adventure a few weeks ago and are finding out how time consuming it can be. It will all be worth it in the end, though.

After getting cleaned up, we met up with Tre’s friend Iehab and his wife Christina and their little girl, Isabella, for dinner at Lorna’s. We hadn't seen them since Isabella was a new born and now she is almost 16 months old (they live in Redondo Beach). We had a great dinner (you can’t go wrong at Lorna’s) and really enjoyed getting caught up. Isabella was SO good and adorable to boot.

After dinner, we raced to St Paul’s Cathedral for Easter Vigil. My friend Amy was going to be received during the service and had asked me if we wanted to come. It was a nice service. Candlelight for the first half and then they brought up the lights for the sermon and Eucharist. Amy had warned me that it was 2 ½ hours long and it was…EXACTLY 2 ½ hrs long (8p – 1030p). There was a reception afterward, but we had had such a full day, that going home and going to bed sounded much better than cake and coffee.

Easter morning we went to the Easter service at our church and then went home for some breakfast before we headed out to look at a handful of houses. We had been invited to join John and Jayne at the Coronado Yacht Club for brunch at 10:30, but since our service didn’t start until 9:45, it didn’t quite work out. Joe and Elizabeth LaGreca had also invited us over to spend the afternoon with their family, but we had to stick to our guns and hunt for houses instead of eggs. It didn’t really “feel” like Easter this year, more like a typical Sunday – heck, I didn’t even eat a deviled egg and THAT is totally unheard of!
